IOMEGA Demonstration and Experimentation Platform

IOMEGA Platform: Innovation, Decision-Making, and Immersive Technologies

The IOMEGA platform is designed to support companies, institutions, and research laboratories in developing decision-making tools for complex, collaborative, and dynamic contexts.

At the heart of the platform, an immersive technical platform allows complex scenarios to be simulated, tested, and visualized using virtual reality (VR) technologies. The platform also relies on a high-performance server infrastructure dedicated to modeling, intensive computing, and data analysis in the context of applied research projects.

IOMEGA is positioned as a true experimental laboratory, serving strategic decision-making, complex systems modeling, and collaborative design. It is aimed at all sectors of activity: industry, logistics, healthcare, energy, local authorities, etc.

A platform open to partnerships and co-innovation

IOMEGA is a tool for promoting research and a catalyst for collaborative innovation. It enables industrial, academic, and institutional partners, regardless of their size or field, to:

  • test solutions in near-real conditions,
  • co-develop customized decision-making tools,
  • accelerate their R&D programs in simulated environments.

It thus helps to bring the worlds of research and industry closer together by integrating innovative methods of design, evaluation, and decision support.

Software prototypes from the Industrial Engineering Center: robust solutions for research and industry

The Industrial Engineering Center (CGI) at IMT Mines Albi stands out for its ability to design, develop, and maintain innovative software prototypes based on its research work. These tools showcase the center's expertise in modeling, simulation, decision support, and complex systems management, and are used both as demonstration platforms and as vehicles for transfer to the socio-economic world.

A support unit to guarantee quality and sustainability

In order to structure and support the maturation of its digital solutions, CGI relies on an IT support unit composed of three research engineers. This unit ensures the sustainability of the solutions developed by setting up and maintaining a technical infrastructure and providing support to doctoral students and permanent staff who wish to use it.

Three major software platforms monitored and maintained

The Industrial Engineering Center has the capacity to capitalize on the successive developments of each research project and thesis. Three major software platforms are monitored and maintained: RIO-Suite, COSMOS, and POD VR.

  • RIO-Suite

An open source software suite dedicated to industrial process modeling, resource optimization, and strategic planning.

  • COSMOS

A platform geared towards collaborative project management, integrating tools for coordination, performance monitoring, and project portfolio management.

  • POD VR

An immersive environment based on virtual reality, used for participatory simulation, evaluation of alternatives, and group decision-making.

These prototypes, which are regularly used in seminars, workshops, and training sessions, showcase the technological work carried out at CGI. They enable industrial, institutional, and academic partners to test research results in near-real-life situations, evaluate the applicability of solutions to their specific contexts, and co-develop tools tailored to their business challenges.
